What happens when you put together a group of 10+ women between 8 locally owned businesses? A photoshoot and a great team of vendors! With the help of some Badass Boss Ladies here local to Dripping Springs, we created an amazing creativity set while showcasing each business’s best skills. This project took time effort and patience. A lot of love, tears, and sweat (tears on my part, sweat on everyone- it was SO hot!) went into creating this project that was just a blast to capture. I want to take the time to thank all the incredible women that not only were a part of this project but also supported a big dream of mine to pull this off whether or not they know it. Each one of you ladies really helped me gain the confidence that I needed to get all of us together, narrow down a vision and create something beautiful with you all. I hope to work with each of you in the future again! And now, to tell the story…
This styled shoot idea came to me about five years ago as I was sitting on my couch, scrolling through Pinterest, comparing myself and my skills to other photographers, because that’s what interest is for right? Feeling sorry for myself I decided that IF I ever get good enough I will put together a styled shoot and it will be awesome. getting lost in a deep hole of pretty weddings and delicious pasta dishes, I totally forgot about it until years later when I photographed a wedding and the bride told me “you are incredible and I want you to do a styled shoot.” Thank god for this Bride. Not only did she push my goal of putting something together, but she is also one of my best friends.
In May, I’m not sure how, (no, really, it’s a blur) I somehow got a few of these amazing businesswomen together and they pointed me in the direction of other amazing businesswomen that ran their local businesses right here in Dripping Springs, Texas.
I got my two lovely models, Makenzie and Shayla to be my brides, both of which are stylists at Salon Mystique. Misty, the CEO, and, Owner of Salon Mystique was the hair queen for the day. Madalyn, who is also a beauty professional at Salon Mystique was the Makeup queen for us on this extra humid day. We set up at the gorgeous Felton Ranch where Carrie Felton and her husband John have worked so hard to create. The roses on the pavilion were just starting to bloom when we arrived. Shortly after our arrival, Kari Shelton with The Flower Girl came with magical wizard skills of florals and created every single floral arrangement on site. The arch for the ceremony space, the bridal bouquet, the centerpieces, everything. I wish I could create something 1/10th of her talent for my dining table.
We also partnered up with Kathy Reece with Dragonfly Designs who created all the stationery for this wonderful wedding setting! She is also located here in Dripping Springs and does amazing work.
The day was long, hot, and sweaty but full of creativity and a ton of fun. I think we did an amazing job putting all of this together. I had a great time and I hope to work with all these wonderful women in the near future.
